9. The Word of God
The Word of God has been rightly described as the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) and is a mighty weapon, both of defense against the attacks of the enemy and of offence to send him fleeing. We need to use it often and use it well, which means we need to read it, meditate upon it, memorize it, study it and, most importantly, live it.
During our prayer time, we can pick up a passage or two from the Bible. Some good passages might be the daily readings at the Mass. We should meditate upon them further asking God to help us understand what He is trying to say to us. Even if we canít hear God speaking to us in any other way, this is one way that we will certainly can! He will teach us lessons we need to know; lessons that are vital to our growth as Christians.
When we are done reading the Word of God, we should thank God once again for whatever He has taught us and ask Him for the grace to help implement the lessons inour lives.
