The Holy Spirit in Worship and Prayer: Part 3
Memory Passage
Therefore, brothers, we have an
obligation-but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you
live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to
death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
Romans 8:12-13
Scripture Reading: Galatians 4:6
Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."
Scripture Reading: Romans 8:14-16
because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
Insights
"The One true worshiper of the Father is the Son; the living Christ is our High
Priest before the Father. When we worship in spirit and truth our worship
becomes a part of the Son's worship of the Father. So the Spirit is at work in
us to enable us to bring true worship to the Father in concert with the living,
resurrected Son. This is the heart of true biblical worship." -Ron and Craig
Allen, The Wonder of Worship
Consider this!
We have the gift of the Person of the Holy Spirit in us to lead us in all of life.
This leading includes our worship. The Holy Spirit is the one who brings us
through Christ into fellowship with our Father. It is through the Holy Spirit that
we can know we are sons and daughters of God and that we can experience
intimacy with the Father.
Personal Reflection
- Consider praying to the Holy Spirit that He might reveal God even more
clearly to you as your true Father!
- Try to verbalize or write out your love for God your Father. Speak out a
verbal list or make a written list of 4-5 things you are grateful for and
another 4-5 things you love about God. And then express your love to your
Father, as if you were speaking to your dad, or another relative you truly
love. If this is difficult for you, please pray to the Holy Spirit asking Him to
help you express your love and worship to your Heavenly Father, in the
Name of Jesus.
