HSI Features Season 1

Tithing

Tithing, like many other subjects found in the Bible, is fraught with controversy. Though there is overwhelming evidence in the Bible in support of tithing, there remains much disagreement among people over whether one should tithe or not. Regardless of viewpoint, when it comes to the worship of God, all true worship is voluntary and tithing is one of those voluntary acts that God appreciates when it is done from the heart. Read more.

Eucharistic Miracles

Transubstantiation is the process whereby the bread and wine offered up at the communion service has its substance changed to that of the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. Though this has to be viewed with the eyes of faith, God occasionally performs miracles to dispel the doubts that some might have. Holy Spirit Interactive brings you the better known of these Eucharistic Miracles in another brand new weekly series.

Vocations

Very often, some of us who might have an interest in a priestly or religious vocation wonder if we truly have a call. How can we know for certain? Is there any way to find out if one has a certain interest or aptitude for such a vocation? And if we have such an interest, what are we to do next? Holy Spirit Interactive is pleased to bring you yet another new series, this time on Vocations, which will answer all your questions and clarify all your doubts.

Give Life a Chance

Without a doubt, the outstanding mark of today's world is violence. Violence between nations, violence between communities, violence against women. But the greatest and worst violence today is one we hardly see because it is kept behind closed doors and out of the news. It is violence against the unborn child. In this, the first of a new series on abortion and other pro-life issues, Holy Spirit Interactive presents Give Life a Chance by Errol C. Fernandes.

Pentecost Special

Holy Spirit Interactive presents a special four part feature on the Holy Spirit this Pentecost, a bonanza for all those who love the third person of the Holy Trinity and want to know him better. Learn all about Pentecost. Discover the Holy Spirit. Journey through the School of the Holy Spirit. And rebuild the church that has fallen in ruins since that time 2000 years ago when God poured out his Spirit upon the world by joining our World Prayer Group.

New Age: A Clear and Present Danger

One of the greatest threats to Christianity in the third millenium, the New Age Movement has become influential in every arena of activity: health care, education, business, politics, economics, psychology, entertainment, and even the church. Insidious in its promise of world peace, it entices people away from salvation in Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit Interactive brings you an introduction to a new series on the New Age, a clear and present danger.

Pentecost Novena

The Novena to the Holy Spirit, which begins on May 21, is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Jesus himself when he sent his apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and love so sorely needed by every Christian.

Discover the Eucharist

Of all the statistics that we hear of, none is more alarming than that of a recent poll indicating that only 29% of Catholics receiving the Eucharist believe that it is really and truly the body and blood of Christ. It seems that somewhere over the past few years Catholics have lost a sense of what Christ has given us in the Eucharist. Holy Spirit Interactive brings you a feature on The Eucharist to give you an appreciation of this great gift.

The Complete Catholic Handbook

Who made you? Why do we make the sign of the cross? What does the word Catholic mean? This Handbook answers these and other questions pertaining to Catholic doctrine as well as offers a compendium of all other important information relating to Catholic Faith and Liturgy and a summary of the most important elements of Holy Scripture making it a useful guide for all Catholics whatever their ages, intellects and circumstances.

Discover Vatican II

One of the most important issues of this century is what Vatican II — the Second Sacrosanct Council of the Vatican — really said. There are various diverse opinions on the subject, and it benefits one, therefore, to understand what really happened at the Council. To this purpose, Holy Spirit Interactive presents a special feature on Vatican II, so as to facilitate an understanding of what it was, not what others would have it to be.

The Divine Mercy

The message and devotion to Jesus as The Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God's mercy. Even before her death in 1938, the devotion to The Divine Mercy had begun to spread. We present a feature on The Divine Mercy by the Marians of the Immaculate Conception.

The Season of Easter

The last couple of hundred years has seen an inexorable shift in importance from Easter to Christmas. But for true believers, the celebration of Easter remains more fundamental than the Incarnation. Without the resurrection of Jesus, Christianity would be nothing. Holy Spirit Interactive presents a feature on The Season of Easter where we also answer some of the questions that people ask most frequently.

Conversion and Reconciliation

All of us are touched in some way by the contagion of sin. It is an integral part of the truth about human beings. To acknowledge that one is a sinner, capable of sinning and inclined to sin, is the essential first step in returning to God. There cannot be conversion without acknowledgment of our own sin. There cannot be reconciliation without conversion. This week, Holy Spirit Interactive presents a guide to both: Conversion & Reconciliation.

The Holy Rosary

There are many devotions in the Catholic Church that help us in our growth as Christians. Among them the holy Rosary occupies a pre-eminent place because of its beauty, simplicity and the depth of its richness. It is universal in its appeal. Children lisp it on their mother's lap. Mature people have recourse to it in times of difficulty. It comes as a solace in old age. Holy Spirit Interactive is pleased to present: The Holy Rosary.

The Ancient Art of Lectio Divina

A very ancient art, practiced at one time by all Christians, is the technique known as lectio divina - a slow, contemplative praying of the Scriptures which enables the Bible, the Word of God, to become a means of union with God. This practice — kept alive in the Christian monastic tradition — is a wonderful way of improving our relationship with God. Holy Spirit Interactive is pleased to present: The Ancient Art of Lectio Divina by Fr. Luke Dysinger.

The Seven Deadly Sins

Pride. Avarice. Envy. Anger. Lust. Gluttony. Sloth. They are the seven deadly sins - also known as the "capital vices" - which were enumerated in their present form by Thomas Aquinas in the 13th century. Though not found as a single consolidated list in the Bible, the gospel proscribes all of them as fatal to our spiritual progress. Holy Spirit Interactive brings you a special feature on The Seven Deadly Sins.

The Passion of the Christ Study Guides

Holy Spirit Interactive presents The Passion of the Christ - Study Guides. These guides, put together by Our Faith in Action, a current events and issues-based program, are intended to help us all grow closer to Christ after seeing Mel Gibsonís movie covering the last twelve hours of Jesusí life. We recommend you watch the movie before you go through these guides. We also encourage you to copy and distribute them to all freely.

The Seven Sacraments

Sacraments are revelations of God's love, of his plan to save mankind from sin and death, and of his endless mercy and forgiveness. Through our reception of the sacraments we receive the spirit of Jesus Christ and are formed in his image. No longer visible to our eyes, he remains present to us in the sacraments. Holy Spirit Interactive presents The Seven Sacraments to help us better understand these signs of God's love.

Lent 2004

Lent offers us a special chance to grow in our relationship with God. By observing Lent, we have an opportunity to take stock of our lives, to pray more deeply, to experience sorrow for what we've done and failed to do, and to be generous to those in need. Holy Spirit Interactive presents Lent 2004 - a variety of resources to help make this wonderful season of soul searching and repentance a memorable and meaningful one.

The Return of the Prodigal

After being lost in the spiritual wilderness for twenty five years, God opened the eyes of his modern day prodigal son, and showed him the way home. This is the touching story of a proud and arrogant man who finally humbled himself, only to be lifted high up again. Holy Spirit Interactive brings you The Return of the Prodigal, a testimonial of God's mercy, power and infinite love in this new series called Testimony.

The Lord's Ranch

Nestling in the midst of mountains and surrounded by lush green forests is a 900 acre (4 square kilometer) slice of heaven on earth that will soon house a rehabilitation center for alcoholics and drug addicts, a home for the retired, a spiritual retreat center, agricultural farms, and a theme park for children. Holy Spirit Interactive brings you the story of The Lord's Ranch, a vision that is rapidly being transformed into a reality.

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal

In February 1967, a group of college students attending a retreat at Duquesne University had a powerful and transforming experience in response to fervent prayer. The account of this experience quickly spread across the college campus and then to other campuses across the US before sweeping across the world. This was the beginning of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Holy Spirit Interactive brings you the full story.

Discover the Bible

If you are a Christian, you already recognize that the Bible is very important. Our salvation stems from its message of good news. Our values and beliefs are based on its teachings. And our daily lives are guided by its many practical principles. In view of this all Christians should engage in regular, meaningful, direct Bible study and we are happy to show you how in this week's Direct Bible Discovery. With an introduction by The Prodigal.

Discover The Church

At the heart of the Christian Gospel is Jesusí preaching about the Kingdom of God. A Kingdom, like a Republic, is an idea which refers to a collectivity Ė a number of people who form some kind of community. It was therefore natural that immediately after Jesus was taken from among his first disciples, they formed a community. Christian tradition sees in that first community the beginnings of the Church. Discover the Church.

The Explanatory Mass

It is comforting to know that when we gather to celebrate Sunday liturgy, we are part of a tradition that is nearly 2000 years old. Many of us, however, do not know how that tradition shapes the way we celebrate today. Holy Spirit Interactive takes you through the Eucharistic ritual in this specially adapted presentation and tells you all you ever wanted to know about the Holy Mass but were afraid to ask: The Explanatory Mass.

Discover the Holy Spirit

Many people, even devout Christians, imagine the Holy Spirit to be a vague, ethereal power who enters us and leaves us at will. Others think of him as some kind of cosmic magician who drops mysteriously into our lives to make religious things happen and then leaves just as quickly as he came. In this special interactive presentation, Discover the Holy Spirit, YOU discover who the Holy Spirit really is.
