The Vision and Da Veiga
The Lord's Ranch was conceived in the mind of Hilary Da Veiga when he had a vision of a large estate of land that would house a number of facilities to be used in the service of God's children. At the time - a little over fifteen years ago - Hilary could only wonder what the vision could possibly mean. He was, as far as he could tell, just an ordinary man leading an ordinary life. He most certainly didn't have the economic resources to underwrite such a project. These, however, are insignificant details to God, who can make a prince out of a pauper - or vice versa - overnight. But first, a little history.
Hilary came to Dubai, a prosperous little city in the United Arab Emirates, in 1980. He joined an oil company, but in '94, the company closed down their operations in the country, abruptly leaving Hilary without a job. Deciding he would rather work for himself, Hilary started a business, which unfortunately faced major problems and Hilary suffered heavy losses in the bargain. Three years later, the company that Hilary worked for recommenced operations in Dubai. They offered Hilary a job, paying him twice the salary they had earlier. The company, however, didn't fare any better this time around, and after two years, closed down yet again. Undeterred, Hilary was led to start another business. This time his efforts met with tremendous success, and helped turn the vision of The Lord's Ranch into a reality.
