The Diocesan Priesthood
A candidate for the diocesan priesthood must complete four years of high school, four years of college and four and a half years of graduate study in theology before ordination. A candidate may attend the college of his choice or a minor seminary to complete studies for his bachelor's degree. Graduate study is completed in residence at a major seminary.
Most diocesan priests serve in parishes. Many others serve as teachers, administrators, military chaplains, hospital chaplains, prison chaplains, and other ministries.
