The Dog and the Ball
Billy was playing with his tennis ball outside Farmer Dobby garden when it flew out of his hands and went over the fence. He climbed on top of the fence, but the moment he did so, Farmer Dobby's ferocious bull dog came charging at him. Billy hastily jumped back, but then he realized that the dog was tied very tightly to a tree in the center of the garden and stopped a good two feet short of him. Unfortunately, the ball was right in the middle of the garden. Billy tried to climb up the fence from the other side, but the moment the dog saw him, he would come charging. Billy, however, was smart, and figured out a way to get his ball out. How did he do it?
Billy bravely jumps over the fence. The dog charges towards him but stops two feet short. Then Billy begins running round and round the fence in a circle. The dog keeps running after him. As he does so, the rope keeps looping around the tree, until it is entirely wound around it. Billy grins at the dog, picks up the ball, and goes away.
