If Jesus Died On The Cross, How Can He Be Alive Today?
Jesus lived as a real human being. Jesus' death was a real death, too (he really died on the cross) - the people who killed him made sure of that. When Jesus was killed, all of his followers were very sad. Jesus' body was put in a grave. But three days later, God brought Jesus back to life. Jesus showed his wounds to his disciples. Jesus lives in his special "glorified" body in heaven today. Isn't that great?
I passed on to you from the first what had been told to me. Christ died for our sins just as the Bible said he would. He was buried, and three days later he rose from the grave. This happened just as the prophets said it would. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
John 20:27; 1 Corinthians 15:12-58
Note to Parents
We call Jesus' postresurrection body a "glorified" body. Jesus was recognized by the disciples, and he ate a meal with them. But he also was able to appear suddenly in their midst - he wasn't limited by space and time. We really don't know anything more about what his body was like or what our body will be like. (See Luke 24:36-43 and John 20:19-31.)
