The Rooster Regains His Voice
by Deacon Tom
Once upon a time, roosters used to sing loudly. They had the unique job of announcing many wonderful events. Some roosters sang at the birth of babies. Other roosters sang to tell the workers that it was time to leave the fields and come home for meals. Other roosters sang quietly in the woods and were never heard by anyone. Roosters always served others by announcing news to all.
One day, something very funny happened in Jerusalem. Jesus selected a rooster, which is sometimes called a cock, to show Peter how he needed to be more loyal to Jesus. Three times Jesus asked the rooster to remind Peter of his problem. After the third announcement, Peter finally got the message and was very upset.
When the rooster looked at the pain in Peter's eyes, the rooster lost his voice. As much as he tried to sing nothing happened. All night Friday and all day Saturday rooster could no longer sing. The rooster began to think he would ever sing again.
Then on Sunday morning just as the sun was rising, a rooster saw the most amazing thing. A stone rolled back from a tomb in Jerusalem. Next, he saw the transformed body of Jesus come from the tomb. Amazingly, Jesus looked right at the rooster and smiled.
In excitement and pure joy, the rooster let out a long and loud crow. From the top of his lungs, he announced to the world that "Jesus is Alive!"
To this very day, when a rooster crows at sunrise, the rooster announces to all…"Jesus is Alive!"
