Little David and the Miracle of a Baby
by Deacon Tom Frankenfield
After a long night in the hospital, little David was very excited when his
Uncle Steve came out of the birthing room and announced that Aunt Debbie
just had a little boy and they were going to call the baby, Lincoln.
David said, “Cool!” and David gave his Uncle Steve a big hug. As he hugged
Uncle Steve, David saw tears in Uncle Steve’s eyes. “What’s the matter,
Uncle Steve, why are you sad?” said David.
Uncle Steve laughed and said, “These tears are not sad tears David; they are
happy tears. I am so happy to be a Dad!”
Then Uncle Steve took David into the birthing room to see Aunt Debbie and
his new cousin, Lincoln.
Before he knew it, Uncle Steve put Lincoln in David’s arms and told him all
about babies. “David, babies are wonderful gifts from God. God gives us His
children to love. One of the most important jobs that Aunt Debbie and I
have is to teach Lincoln about God’s love.”
David asked, “How can you teach the baby about God’s love when God knows
everything?
Uncle Steve laughed and said, “When Aunt Debbie and I love each other we
will teach Lincoln all about God. We need your help too. Can you help us
to love Lincoln?”
“You bet,” said David. “I love him already!” Gently, David leaned over and
kissed Lincoln on the cheek and said, “I love you, Lincoln.”
With that Uncle Steve and Aunt Debbie started to cry again as they felt and
saw the warmth of God’s love. At the same time, everyone else in the
hospital room cried those special tears of joy. They all loved Lincoln,
David and each other very much…that is God’s special plan of love for all of
us.
Stay happy…Deacon Tom
