Did God Create Satan?
Did God create Satan? Or was he just there from the begining, like God? I thought that God would be incapable of creating anything evil, so I think that he was just there... but I just wanted to know for sure!
You're correct in saying that God does not create evil.
God is love and creates beings, both human and heavenly, out of love, for the purpose of loving, and with the capacity to love.
Angels are created by God to be good and to honor, serve and glorify God the Father. God created the angel who then turned his back on God...we now call that fallen angel, satan.
You can read more about this in Revelation:
"Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it." - Rev 12:7-9
The devil, satan (or lucifer) is a fallen angel, meaning that he once was good, but chose to turn away from God and serve Him no more. Because the angel chose to turn from God he was cast out of Heaven.
St. Paul warns us that, "even Satan masquerades as an angel of light." - 2 Cor. 11:14
